We Build

With the great support of the Community and our sponsors, PHS Motorsports has spent the last ten years building a class that has been deemed a model program by the California State School Board Association, and was featured in the Febuary 2009 issue of Circle Track magazine.

We Race

Team members work with students from other departments on campus. Students who participate in the PHS Motorsports program are designing, building painting, soliciting sponsorships, acting as crew members on race day, etc.

We Learn

After a successful 2010 season, we’re at it again getting ready for 2011. We are busy putting the finishing touches on our race car projects and getting ready for some new ones. As well as our stock car racing program, we are also adding drag racing and road racing to our team.

In addition to teaching strong technical skills, this series has been successful at reaching students who are not interested in the typical extra-curricular programs. Experience with the race team changes self image and motivation. A goal of the program is to attract the often-disenfranchised student to identify with the sport and/or school activity in an effort to keep him/her interested and proud of their campus involvement. This comprehensive program gives these students a realistic taste of the exciting world of automotive racing. This high school program is the only one of its kind in the U.S. and serves as a pilot program to be developed on a National level.
